The STI SpecSeal SSM Firestop Mortar is made from a non-intumescent material that uses a combination of heat sinking and insulting properties that provide a high level of fire resistance The SpecSeal SSM Firestop Mortar is an economical choice of mortar that is used to seal through-penetrations as well as construction gaps and blank openings. It is compatible with a wide range of penetrants including metallic pipes, cables, cable trays, busways, plastic pipes, etc. the mortar is suitable for openings of all sizes thus making it more purposeful. Once mixed with water, the mortar forms a non-shrinking, high yield, low density solution that can be applied by pouring, pumping, or troweling. The mortar?s lightweight property makes it require less forming support and makes re-penetration and retrofitting a much easier task. The Firestop Mortar is designed to dry quickly and not crack or spall due to freezing or temperature changes. Its sturdy adhesion is due to a chemical bond and hence, installing this mortar requires little or no mechanical anchoring.
