SpecSeal Range-Taking Firestop Collars (RTC) are factory-made devices used to seal plastic pipes that penetrate fire-resistant walls and floors. The SpecSeal RTC Collar is made of a strong gauge metal collar with a molded intumescent inlay. The adjustable collar is intended to suit 3 in (89 mm) and 4 in (114 mm) commercial size pipes, as well as the matching 3" (102 mm) and 4" (127 mm) couplings. When exposed to temperatures above 320?F (160?C), the molded insert of the SpecSeal Range-Taking Firestop Collars begins to expand (intumesce) fast to produce a thick, extremely insulative char. Free expansion is available in increments of 32x to 64x the original (pre-expanded) volume. Expansion continues until the temperature reaches 1,000?F (538?C). Shell Construction: Nom 22 GA galvanized steel (0.03? (0.76 mm) thick). Intumescent Insert: Molded one piece. Expansion Begins: 320?F (160?C). Volume Expansion: 32x to 64x (free expansion). In Service Temperature: Less than 120?F (49?C). Shelf Life: No Limit.
